You can now buy Styscraper fridge magnets, Dog Poo Golf mugs, Penga stickers and all sorts of other novelty tat. RedBubble will make far more money than us, but it’s fun to have a shop.

We’ve also updated our Overpriced Basics and added a couple of things to StopOrMy.Mom

Tiny Awards logo saying 'nominations are open'

Are YOU sick of people complaining that the internet is all sh*t? Would YOU like to celebrate the fact that it isn't, and people are still making brilliant stuff? Would YOU like to celebrate some of that brilliant stuff via a small award? Well why not nominate your favourite small, personal, non-commercial web project of the past year for a Tiny Award?

We're now taking nominations for 2025, details here!

Big agree. We should all relax, over breakfast maybe? I made a game to help:

World domination is overrated. Far to much admin.

I saw this comment and thought, "that's a very sensible statement". Then I realised that I had made it. Glad to see I managed to agree with myself.

MAGESTIC PIG

Hi! My name is Brianna.

Me and my brother love your game styscraper. I would just love to show you my drawing I made of the pig! Do you like it?

Could you maybe please sponsor on your website, on the Styscraper game tab or something to display my artwork? I can do more to enhance your website. Thank you!

I would also like to let you know that my brother has made a styscraper boardgame and is in the process of it. We both love your game. Thank you for making it and have a great day!

Subj: The Best Film You’ve Never Seen

The Heartbreak Kid

No. 27: The Heartbreak Kid (1972)

Charles Grodin’s Lenny starts obsessively pursuing a young woman he’s just met... while on his honeymoon.

He’s one of the great terrible-person protagonists in movie history and the film uses that to toy with the audience, nudging you towards him with cheap/cringe laughs before you’re reminded of his hollow narcissism.

By the end, his eager persistence still has you wondering whether maybe there’s something there, a redeeming quality, even just contentment... before the film slams the door shut with a quietly bleak ending.

There are interesting parallels with The Graduate, but it’s a very different film. There’s also a Farrelly brothers’ remake from 2007; it sounds awful. Spend 106 minutes with a dark comedy from Elaine May and Neil Simon instead.

The Heartbreak Kid isn’t available for legal streaming; apparently a pharmaceutical company owns the rights and has no plans to sell or use them. So go ahead and watch the best copy you can find on YouTube etc guilt-free

No. 26: Colossal (2016) Another appearance in this series for director Nacho Vigalondo after Timecrimes...

Timecrimes is a stone cold masterpiece! By far the best time-travel based puzzle box film, for my money. I'll have to check out Colossal, sounds like a wild time.

If it hasn't already featured in this list, I'd also recommend Fermat's Room as another innovative Spanish thriller that probably doesn't get talked about enough.

Hello Slippy! I am a proud parakeet owner and have a cute little birb named Pixel, she is green/yellow (used to be completely gray so now she just has dull colors lol) do you have a message for her?

From Slippy, To Pixel:

Hello pixel! i've been requested to give a message to you and i gladly will!
Pixel, you gotta remember in this vast world, there isn't much time to spend standing around doing nothing. make the best of life, preen, clean and tidy your feathers, spend time with your owner, make those baths you take (if you even take any) from time to time worth it. splash yourself a bit extra.
Cause remember, every second counts, once you spend some time doing something, you cant go back. Have a great night/day/evening/morning depending on when you hear my message, pixel!

Are you driving on the correct side of the road? It's possible you're not and therefore the warp field has been activated to keep you contained until you get the hang of it. It's for our safety as well as yours.

Subj: Ideas for t-vests

I'm thinking of starting a business selling t-vests with slogans on them. Would anyone be interested in buying, or even wearing, a t-vest with the following emblazoned on the front?

I'M HUNGRY LET'S GET US A MACDONALD

PETER SISSONS!

MY OTHER T-SHIRT IS A DIFFERENT T-SHIRT

MADE OF RECYCLED PANTS

HANDS UP IF YOU WANT TO GET ANTIQUATED

I'VE BEEN FOR THREE POOS ALREADY TODAY WHAT IS YOUR EXCUSE

MY BEST KIND OF KARATE IS TAE-KWON-DO

BASE-EIGHT IS THE NUMERAL SYSTEM FOR THIS GUY!

WIZARDS > DOLPHINS FIGHT ME

I reckon I could probably knock together some designs in Illustrator and get those bad boys up on Redbubble or Threadless or whatever if anyone would ever buy them.

Subj: Using my stream deck as a second monitor

vole.wtf vmail newsletter on a streamdedk!

Ever looked at your Stream Deck and thought, ā€œWhat if this could be a mini-monitor?ā€ Well, that’s exactly what this project does. It captures your main screen, slices it into tiny tiles, and streams those live onto the buttons of your Stream Deck — effectively turning it into a tiny, low-res second display.

Why? Mostly for fun and curiosity.

How It Works

This project uses a Python script that combines:

  • mss for efficient screen capturing
  • Pillow (PIL) for image manipulation
  • StreamDeck SDK for controlling the Stream Deck and rendering images
  • A bit of math to divide up the screen into button-sized pieces

Here’s a breakdown of the process:

  1. Capture the Screen
  2. Resize to Deck Dimensions
  3. Split the Image into Tiles
  4. Render to the Deck
  5. End the Stream with a Key Press

Notes

  • You may need to manually load the hidapi.dll if you’re on Windows.
  • Adjust key_spacing if your model has different key spacing.
  • The script assumes only one Stream Deck is connected.

Results

The result is a charming little ā€œmonitorā€ that lives in your Stream Deck. It’s low-res and a bit silly — but in the best way possible. Also, you can run doom with it.

Want to try it yourself or improve it? Clone the repo and give it a go!
